FAQs
How long are the routes?
On average, the routes are 2.5 – 3 miles. We estimate that a family with younger children should complete the route in around 90 minutes – 2 hours.
There is no time limit on the day of your ticket – you can stop for as long between stages as you like.
What are the puzzles like?
Puzzles differ depending on the game being played.
Beano puzzles are more focused on children from the age of 4.

Sherlock puzzles are more intensive, and are designed more for teenagers and adults.
Are the routes wheelchair accessible?
We try as hard as possible to make the routes wheelchair accessible. The terrain is generally flat, however, as the game is outside we are limited by city design and structure. We try not to use steps as part of the game, and where we do, alternatively routes can be used to get to the same end location.
What happens if we get stuck on a puzzle/clue?
Hints and clues are provided within the app and the game to help you on your way if you get stuck.
Where does it start and finish?
Routes differ between games and cities, so for further detail, check the product page of each game/location.
We have designed the games to be as close to a loop as possible so that you end up in a similar location to where you started.
How do I download the app to play?
Full instructions will be included in your confirmation email once you have purchased.
Is there a time limit?
No, there is no time limit on this one; it’s about how many points you accumulate. The more clues you need, the fewer points you are awarded.
However, your ticket is only valid on the day you have booked, and we strongly recommend playing in daylight hours so that all parks are open.
Can I play anytime?
When you book your tickets, you will choose a specific date to play the game.
You are free to play at any time during that day, however, it is strongly recommended to take part during daylight hours.
Do I need to do anything special to my phone to play the game?
You will need to download the app, and the game on the app.
We recommend that you download the app and the game via wifi at home, so you aren’t using any data when playing. If you do this, you will not need signal or data when playing.
When asked, you will need to allow the app to access your location for guided route reasons; the app uses your location at certain points within the game to direct you to the next place. If the app is unable to do this, the game won’t work. You can delete the app once you have finished playing the game.
We recommend also bringing a backup battery/power bank in case your phone battery runs low.
Do I need to wear anything in particular?
Not really. However, you will be outside in the U.K., so it’s always recommended to dress according to the weather forecast, and where possible to bring a raincoat/waterproof with you just in case the heavens open!
What happens if I have a problem when playing the game on the day?
Any on-the-day support is given in the app through helpful hints and clues should you need them.
When you arrive at the starting point, open the app and the downloaded game, and start playing! Make sure you bring your QR codes with you in case of any issues loading upon arrival.
If you haven’t downloaded the game at home, you will need to use your data to download the game at the starting point. The download is around 200MB – so if you don’t do this on wifi, you may be charged by your network provider, subject to any allowances you have or not.
What if I have any questions before the day itself?
For any questions before the day, please check our FAQ page, or contact info@outdoorgamingcompany.com.
Is it COVID secure?
The game is played entirely outside, and can form part of your daily exercise.
